Message from the President and CEO

Dear Friends,

The 2021–2022 year was an absolutely incredible year for our team. We celebrated many milestones including the launch of our 30th anniversary on July 1. Marking this milestone together as a team and with YOU, our supporters and Dream family, has been incredibly important to us. Thirty years is proof that we can overcome together. Thirty years is Walter Segaloff’s dream coming full-circle. Thirty years is a symbol of the hope that has been realized in the lives of our Dreamers and alumni during that time. And thirty years is our springboard to the future. As our students returned to in-person learning during the 2020–2021 school year, we focused on moving forward and closing any gaps. Our teachers and staff are determined to provide the absolute best for our Dreamers every single day, and this team has risen to the challenge.

We maintained our 100% on-time graduation rate. Dreamers continued to achieve success in the
classroom and interpersonally. Field trips resumed. We had one of our most successful fundraising years to date. We re-engaged in events, and were thrilled to be able to welcome guests and sponsors back into the school for tours. We ended the year with a staff retreat to reset, refuel, and prepare for the year ahead.

Leading through change is never easy, but I am incredibly proud of our leadership team and all they have accomplished in the midst of adversity. Every day, they continue to shine the light on our Dreamers, keeping their bright futures as the main goal. Every day, they refuse to be defeated. And every day, they change lives.

I often say, “We could not do this without you.” I say it so often that I fear it may lose some meaning. But the absolute reality is that we could not do this without you. Your support makes success for our students a reality. Your support provided technological access, meals for students in need, clean uniforms, field trips that open our students’ eyes to the wonder and opportunity of the world around them, and so much more. YOU are the reason we are able to continue this work. My gratitude is immense, and I hope you feel a deep sense of pride as you read this report and know that all of this… is because of you.

As we head into the 2022–2023 year, we are refreshed and ready to continue inspiring hope through education. Thank you for being on this journey with us. Onward!

With all my gratitude,

Lee Vreeland, Ed.D.
