On June 7, 2021, our Newport News senior class walked the stage at Todd Stadium and received their diploma from An Achievable Dream Middle & High School. Friends and family members cheered students on from the bleachers, and students heard from class Salutatorian, Krystal Langhorne, and Valedictorian, Tejah Butler Also attending graduation was special guest, Alan Witt, recently retired CEO of PBMares and now Dean of the Joseph W. Luter, III School of Business at Christopher Newport University. The accounting firm sponsored college scholarships for the Class of 2021 in honor of Mr. Witt, and the class will forever be known as the Alan S. Witt Scholars.
Members of the senior class presented Mr. Witt with a special gift: a framed group photo of the class with Mr. Witt, PBMares CEO, Harvey Johnson, and PBMares Partner, Jennifer French. The photo was signed by each member of the graduating class.
We are so proud of the determination and resilience our students exhibited as they navigated their senior year of high school in the midst of a global pandemic. It was a unique and challenging year, with senior activities and experiences looking very different this year. We are so proud of how each member of the senior class handled such a difficult year with courage, determination, and grit.
We are incredibly proud of the courage with which we know they will continue to take on the future, and we will be here to encourage them every step of the way!
In a special letter to the senior class, Dr. Vreeland shared the following words:
Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Believe in tomorrow, believe in yourself. Trades, college, or the military, continue with your education; the world needs you now more than ever. Find your passion. Do your best. Don’t be late. Read often. Appreciate others. Open your mind, nurture your body. Get outside. Cherish family, friends, health – these are your true riches.
You pushed through the hard times and made it here today. And wherever you go from here, An Achievable Dream is always home.
Congratulations An Achievable Dream graduating class of 2021!
